With support from Constellation Energy, Women of Wind Energy, the Pennsylvania Wind for Schools program, and the Center for Science and the Schools, KidWind will be holding a wind energy STEM teacher workshop at Penn State University-UP.
This workshop will cover the basics of wind energy science and technology, while also introducing educators to hands-on activities and innovative curricula to bring wind energy STEM concepts into their classrooms.
We will also be introducing the KidWind Challenge at this workshop, giving teachers the resources and knowledge they need to form a student team to participate in the KidWind Challenge. The Challenge will be coming to the State College area in May, 2012. Come learn how to participate in this exciting student-driven wind energy competition! Your students could win great cash prizes, while having fun and exploring renewable energy science!
All attending teachers will receive a free turbine kit from KidWind as well as free curricular materials.
This workshop will be held at the Center for Science and the Schools Conference Room, in 119 Chambers Building, Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA . This center works to develop mutually beneficial and sustainable relationships between Penn State STEM researchers and outreach providers, and K-12 schools that enhance K-12 science education across Pennsylvania.
This workshop is sponsored by Constellation Energy.
