We know teachers are working with tight budgets. Below is a list of current grants we know about that may help fund KidWind workshops, Challenges, or hands-on materials.

Captain Planet Foundation Grants - Up to $500+

  • Grants are made for activities that conform to the mission of the Captain Planet Foundation which is to: promote and support high-quality educational programs that enable children and youth to understand and appreciate our world through learning experiences that engage them in active, hands-on projects to improve the environment in their schools and communities.

Lowes Toolbox for Education - Up to $5,000

  • Need to stock up on some PVC pipe or other tools to implement wind energy science into your classroom? Check out this grant from Lowes! "This year, as a foundation, we are challenging ourselves to seek ways to provide the tools that help our educators and parent groups through today's challenging times efficiently, while providing the greatest impact, with basic necessities taking priority."

  • The Iowa Energy Center provides competitive grant opportunities to Iowa-based, nonprofit groups to conduct energy-related research, demonstration and education projects.

Dominion K-12 Educational Partnership - Up to $10,000

  • Educational grants from Dominion and the Dominion Foundation provide elementary and secondary educators with the tools they need to revitalize math and science programs through the study of energy and the environment.

    Dominion accepts grant applications, up to $10,000, to encourage the development of new programs to strengthen math and science education through the study of energy or the environment.

  • The NEA Foundation is providing $2,000 to $5,000 grants to improve the academic achievement of students in U.S. public schools and public higher education institutions in any subject area(s).

Toshiba America Foundation Grants - Up to $5,000

  • Toshiba America Foundation is accepting applications from K-12 science and math teachers for grants. K-5 teachers can apply for grants up to $1,000 and 6-12 teachers may apply for grants up to $5,000.
